Sucker Punch

Quite true to say that Sucker Punch is not a movie.

Baby Doll is not a film character. She’s exactly what her name spells: a doll. An avatar. It’s like watching someone plays a 2-hour ultra expensive videogame.

Hors-la-loi (Outside the Law)

Kynodontas (Dogtooth)

Dog owners (parents) should see this movie.

My Rating: 8/10

Hævnen (In a Better World)

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Yeah right. Just make sure that you and your loved ones don’t end up blind, or dead, first.

My Rating: 8/10

SHOULD BE IN THE FINAL FIVE:

Kokuhaku (Confessions)

An ultra-maniacal view on how to ‘educate a problem child’.

My Rating: 7/10

Who’d I like to win:

Filmwise, Haevnen deserves the win. Personally, I would like a bold, provocative, one of a kind weirdo movie like Dogtooth to grab the prize. But hey, get real. This is Oscar.

Now: WHO’D YOU LIKE TO WIN?

Philip K. Dick’s Ubik (1969)

Originally published in 1969

Reading into Ubik is like reading a future that never was and never will be. In retrospective, we can always dismiss it as an ‘alternate’ 1990’s, yet it is a world truly just as uncertain, dangerous, and ruthlessly capitalistic as our own nineties was. We’d like to think that our lives are much better and safer than Joe Chip’s, but somehow it’s just not quite true.

Moonwalking With Einstein

Moonwalking With Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything

If you have any interest to remember more, or remember everything, this book will helps. But, if you’re somebody who always trying hard to forget, then this surely isn’t your cup of tea.

Interesting to see how Hollywood’s going to adapt it into a movie. Let’s hope they won’t do it “He’s Just Not That Into You”-style.

This is what Daft Punk should do when they scored Tron: Legacy. That actual soundtrack is musically good, but most songs echoing more of a techno-blended Hans Zimmerish orchestra than the french duo’s true blood.

While here, The Brothers retain their real identity in every soundscapes. This is what it’s like when an electronica group doing motion picture soundtrack. You’ll have all-dance music. You’ll have all-dance beats. You’ll have all-Chemical Brothers grooves. Expect nothing else.

Parodi Sastra Domain Publik

Seperti Airplane!, Naked Gun, Hot Shots. SpaceBalls. MacGruber.

Komik Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham.

Barry Trotter. Bored of the Rings, The Sellamillion. The Va Dinci Cod.

Weird Al Yankovic.

Tuilet. Ayat Amat Cinta.
