Simon and the Oaks (2011)

2012 Guldbagge Awards – Winners Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress.

US release date: October 12

Sometimes fantasy, or in this case, history, is the best place to live in this cruel world. Or is it?
World War II didn’t turned out so bad for these two Swedish families, one Jew, one not. One rich, one not. They’re strangely bonded, in between buried jealousies, diverse hobbies, family secrets, and soap-opera-style hidden romantic triangle(s). If not because of the ex Nazi concentration camp crazy cousin, and particularly that slightly off cat lady aunt, it could be better still for Simon. Or maybe not.
Sometimes, most of the times, a simple ‘oak tree’ is better than what people always call ‘real’ family; or no one at all.

My Rating: 6/10
