If Uchû Senkan Yamato a.k.a. Star Blazers is one of your childhood anime darling, then prepare for the eye-watering moment as we finally able to see it as a live action movie.
For the first timers, you might see it as a Jap’s version of ‘Battlestar Galactica’ complete with all its J-movie cheesiness. You might think it’s not original. But for your information, Yamato was first made back in 1974. Four years before the original Galactica TV series!

Yamato also came out before Star Wars. Battlestar Galactica, and a lot of other shows and movies, owe a lot to Yamato. If it weren’t for Yamato’s Black Tigers we would have no X-wing Fighters, TIE Fighters or Colonial Vipers. The Death Star looks strangely similar to the Comet Empire. R2-D2 is utterly inspired by Analyzer (IQ9). It goes on and on.
